Dyer Jace!

Ashley told me that I am supposed to blog the birth story. I think she was hoping I would go home and do it right away, but I waited 2 days, and she is home already.

So, Monday morning I woke up at around 2:45AM to the sound of Ashley's phone receiving a text message. I rolled over and she was not in bed, so I figured baby was on the way. I guess she had been up with contractions for about 45 minutes, but didn't want to wake me until it was the real deal. I don't imagine I would be quite so considerate if I was laboring, but that's my Ashley.

We called our friend Valerie who came over to watch the kids. (Thanks Valerie!) We got to the hospital around 3:30. The nurses thought there was no way Ash was in labor. When the doctor came to check, she was at 9cm and 100%. Take that!

Ashley wanted her epidural right away, but as soon as I heard 9 and 100% I knew that it was probably not going to happen. I didn't tell Ashley that, I just harassed the nursing staff to hurry on the labs, IV.

Baby was sunny-side up (nose facing forward), so the OB had Ashley try all sorts of birthing positions to help him turn. Imagine yoga with more naked and more screaming and you get the picture.

Ashley actually was really brave. Just kidding about the screaming above. Right at the end she did say "Mother...!". At first I thought she wanted her mom, but no.... She did great, but she is an even bigger fan of epidurals now that she tried the alternative. I guess we just needed to get to the hospital half an hour before contractions started.

Dyer Jace and Mom are doing great. I think he has brown eyes. Easton likes his brother. Blair LOVES her brother. Ever seen Elmyra from Tiny Toons? "I love cats I love kitties, squeeze them into itty bittys!"
Dyer weighs 7lbs 8oz and is 20.5 inches long.Born at 6:02AM 13 June after only 4 hours of labor.

Blair turns 2!

Happy Birthday Blair Bear! I can't believe you're officially 2! You're growing up way too fast. Slow down! We're so glad that you are apart of our family. We love you so much!

Blair loves kitties so I decided to go with a kitty theme for her birthday. Originally we were thinking of getting her a real kitten for her birthday but we were a little afraid how the kitten would handle little Miss Blair. Plus it probably isn't the best idea to get a kitten with a newborn coming along shortly. We decided to wait for a while and just get her a for reals kitten instead. She loves it so I guess it was a success!

Up close picture of her cupcakes.

Don't make fun of our singing...

Present time!!!
Opening her for reals kitten.

Blury but you can see how excited she was for the kitten.

Gift from Gma Whiting. Princess pjs and cute summer dress (forgot to get a picture).

Happy little girl!

Opening her microphone. Blair loves singing so I thought she would like a microphone to sing into. Easton wasn't very happy that he couldn't open and play with Blair's gifts.

Blair got the cute little outfit she is wearing from Grandma Gretch. She also got a pink back pack filled with a water bottle, ball, and cute outfit from Aunt Bethanie. Easton got the same things just in boy colors. I keep forgetting to take pictures but the kids absolutely love their gifts. We got the package after Easton's birthday but before Blair's so I let Easton open his but Blair kept trying to steal all of Easton's stuff. I felt kind of bad so I gave in and let her open hers early. Blair also got a savings bond from Grandpa Whiting and Grandma Sharon. Thanks for all the gifts and phone calls. Blair loved them all!

Easton and Blair had their well child visits yesterday. Easton came in at a whooping 31.5 lbs (14%) and 38.5 in (13%). Blair on the other hand came in at 25.7 lbs (41%) and 32.6 in (23%). Nathan of course had to comment that our kids are short. Yes, we all know that it is my fault that our kids are so short.

I updated another pregnancy post but I won't feel bad if you don't take a look at it :)

39 1/2 weeks

Okay here's the absolute last picture I'm going to take of myself before this baby comes. I feel huge and swollen. I'm guessing I'm starting to retain water like I did with Easton. What is it with my boys!?! I definitely don't remember this being a problem with Blair. Anyways, I'm almost to the point where I'm done with this pregnancy and ready for this baby to come. I guess it's good that I only have 2 more days until my due date. Hopefully I won't be too much of a complainer these last few (several?) days. My sister comes in town Sunday so hopefully she and my nephews will distract me enough to get through the last part of my pregnancy.

The last couple of days have been a little crazy for me. I finally hit my tired stage where I need to take a nap. I'm just glad that it is just starting now and wasn't my whole or most of my 3rd trimester. Also the last couple of days I've been having cramps here and there which get me a little excited that baby boy is coming but after about 20-30 minutes it stops. This is all new to me because it wasn't like that with the other two.

In other news I have been keeping myself busy with some projects. Sue always makes baby quilts for the new little ones. She bought the material for this baby but never got around to making it before she passed away. Layne gave me the material and I was determined to make it myself. I had my friend Molly help me come up with a simple design that I could do for my first attempt at making a quilt. I know it's very simple and most likely not as complex as Sue would have done but I'm still happy with the results. This is how it turned out. Lucky for me Molly's sister (who lives in Utah) puts quilts together so after I finished the top of the quilt we sent it to her to put it together for me. I'm excited to get it back and see what the finished product looks like. Molly leaves for Utah today and comes back in about a week so I will definitely post pictures of what it looks like when I get it back.

Here's a closer look at the design:
I've also been making more ties and bow ties for the boys. I still have a few more to do but that might have to wait until after the baby comes.

Nathan's finally done with all his crazy hard rotations for this year. YEAH!!! He only has about a week left of pathology and then he is done with his residency year. He graduates on the 22nd and then he starts radiology on the 27th. Hopefully this baby comes sooner rather than later so that Nathan can actually get some paternity leave before he starts radiology. I guess we will just have to see how stubborn this child will be.

Nathan also just started ground school. I know a little crazy since we are about to add a new little one to the mix but it has always been a dream of his and it seems as though this is really the only opportunity he will have for a long time. He is hoping to have his pilots licence in about 4-6 months but we will just have to wait and see. Ground school is 10 weeks long (tues and thurs nights for three hours). He's already attended one week of school so we only have 9 more weeks left. It shouldn't be too bad since I'll have family in town to help for most of it so it probably is the best time for all of us. Plus, I've been kind of use to not having him around much with the last couple of rotations so maybe its good he gets all the schooling out of the way now before the kids and I get used to having him around and expect him to be around. If that makes sense.
