Diaper bags

Shannah sent me a link on how to make mini diaper bags that fit inside your normal diaper bag. I thought this was a great idea since I now have two kids in diapers and I was getting really annoyed whenever I would have to dig through all the diapers in the diaper bag to find the right diaper for the correct kid. Now I have one mini diaper bag for each kid in their own color so it will be really easy to find the correct diaper. They also had instructions on how to cover a wipe case to match your diaper bags. I thought it was too easy and cute not to do it. I'm pretty happy with the results, especially since this was only my third time ever using a sewing machine.

5 weeks and already rolling over!

Blair is five weeks today and is already rolling over. I can't believe it! She is growing up way too fast! The first time she did it I was thinking that it was just an accident but she did it three more times after that! I thought it was enough torture after four times that I decided to stop there. When she did it the first time I yelled out to Nathan but he didn't hear me. I decided to put Blair back on her tummy to see if she would do it again and she did. I yelled for Nathan again and this time he heard me. Since she had already done it twice I put her back on her tummy so she could show off for her daddy. I wasn't sure that she would do it again but she didn't disappoint. I figured since she was on a roll (no pun intended) I would try and get it on camera. It took a lot longer on camera but that is probably because she was all tired out. Here's a video of her rolling over. Warning: there is a lot of crying before the real action happens. If you can fast forward to almost the end (about 50 seconds) it might be worth it. The video is about a min long (that is about a full min of crying). Did I mention that Blair doesn't like tummy time?

I can't believe Blair is already one month old! She is growing up way too fast. This is basically my little girl in a nutshell at one month. She sleeps a lot.

Easton always has to come and lay next to Blair when she is doing tummy time. Usually he isn't distracted by his blocks and will help Blair out with her workout.

4th of July Weekend

Nathan had a three day weekend so we decided to make a trip up to New York to see Shannah and Skyler (too bad little Savannah didn’t decide to make her appearance). We spent Friday at Palmyra. It was really neat to see the Hill Cumorah, Joseph’s home, and the Sacred Grove. I can’t tell you how cool it was to visit the same places that either Heavenly Father and Jesus visited or an angel of the Lord visited. I just wished that the Hill Cumorah Pageant would have been going on that same weekend. They were setting up for it for this coming weekend. Maybe some day we will be able to go and see it. Easton had fun in the Sacred Grove (he got so dirty) and at the Hill Cumorah (there was an old cat there that Easton got so excited about). I can’t say that he had much fun touring the houses probably because he wasn’t allowed to touch or do anything. I know his parents are so mean.

Palmyra Temple:

Saturday we went on a little nature hike (I couldn’t find the camera so there are no pictures. Shannah took some so maybe I can steal some from her and post them later). I think Easton had a good time running (or should I say trotting) around on the trails and getting dirty. It was a little hard for him to see any of the frogs and turtles because they blended in so well with their surroundings. We would try to point out frogs to him but before he could see them, they would jump in the water and startle Easton. He really liked the tadpoles though. He couldn’t get enough of the “fishies”. We also went to the local farmers market to eat lunch. I swear Easton must be having a growth spurt because he is always hungry and he is eating a lot. I think he ate more than half of my personal pizza and it was a pretty big pizza. Later that evening we went to a BBQ with a few of their ward member friends. We didn’t actually go and see any fireworks but because Shannah and Skyler live on a big hill we were able to see some fireworks from inside their house.

We went to sacrament with the Tanners and then headed home. It was a good thing that we didn’t stay for all three hours of church because we ran into construction zones which caused lots of traffic. We were planning on arriving home around 6 but we didn’t get home until closer to 10. Before church Shannah was nice enough to take some pictures of Easton and Blair. Blair didn’t cooperate very well so I’m not sure how well her pictures turned out but Easton took some good pictures. I can’t wait to get the pictures and see how well they turned out.

While I was packing for our trip Easton walked by my room with my mascara in his hand. He started to twist it open so I ran up to him to take it away before he could open it and get it everywhere. Little did I know he had already opened it and used it on himself. He must watch me too often because he definitely had the right idea of how to put it on.

It is a little hard to see but he did manage to get some on his eye lashes.

I forgot to tell this story of Easton last week. Once the weather started to get nice around here we also started to get thunder storms. Easton of course was a little frightened of the thunder so Nathan decided to make it fun and exciting for Easton. Anytime we hear thunder Easton will now yell, “thunder clap” and clap his hands together when he says clap. It definitely worked for Easton because he now gets really excited about thunder. Anyways, we were at church (I was out changing and feeding Blair so this is what Nathan told me) and during sacrament meeting Easton was looking through his sacrament book. When he came to the picture of Jesus calming the sea he saw the lightning and yelled, “thunder clap” while clapping his hands. I must say that he is a pretty smart boy to know that lightning and thunder go together.

Blair is now officially smiling! She started yesterday. She is super cute! I of course couldn't find the camera because it was still packed away so I could only get it on my phone. It is a little blury but still cute!

Family Update

I wish that I could get Easton to do some of his cute things on camera but every time I take out the camera he will either stop doing it or he won’t do it at all. One of his newest and cutest things he is doing is counting. But not just counting, it is Count von Count-sesame street counting. No, he didn’t learn it by watching Sesame Street (he hardly watches TV) but he learned it from his daddy. Easton has a few sesame street books and one of them is a counting book with The Count. Anytime Nathan reads it to him he does the laugh “AH AH AH!” So now when Easton counts (he generally only counts to 2) he will do the laugh after. “One, Two, AH AH AH!” I laugh every time. This is the best video we could get.

Easton is also starting to try to sing songs with us. Before he would attempt to do the hand movements or just listen and sometimes dance but now he is actually trying to sing. He only gets a few words here and there (generally the first and last word of each line) but it is still really cute to have him try. He is probably the best at the Itsy Bitsy Spider. He also attempts to sing and sign the ABC song (which we sing and sign to him before he naps everyday). The other day he even tried to sing I Am a Child of God (this is the song we sing to him every night before he goes to bed).

Blair is as cute as ever! She still doesn’t do much just the normal newborn stuff: sleep, eat, and poop! She’s still very cute and we all love her to death (Easton was actually trying to hug her to death today…I don’t think he understands that we can’t give baby the same hugs we give mommy and daddy). It was cute but a little scary at the same time. Blair is doing really well with tummy time. She has a really strong neck. She is constantly moving her hand from one side to the other. She apparently has really strong feet too (I should have already known this since she was constantly kicking the crap out of me when I was pregnant with her)! Anyways, she can push herself using her feet from one end of the play mat to the other end. That is until the plastic bar gets in her way and won’t let her move any further. Yesterday she even turned herself 90 degrees.

Nathan is finally done with his third year of medical school (yeah)! Well, he’s been done for over a week now but I’m just finally getting around to writing about it. He is now a fourth year medical student. I can’t believe that he will be done in less than a year (he graduates May 15, 2010 for anyone who wants to come out and see him graduate). It has definitely gone by fast (at least for me. I don’t know if he would agree with this or not).

I’m starting to get the hang of having two kids now. I think the real test is taking the kids out by yourself. Our first outing was to the library last Thursday and it took us almost 2 hours to get ready and out the door (well I did talk to my mom during part of that time so it wasn’t quite 2 hours). Friday we went to play group at the pool and that was a lot easier and faster. We were ready almost 45 minutes earlier than we needed to be. I’m excited to say that I only have 15 more pounds to lose before I’m back to my pre-pregnancy weight and I am actually fitting into some of my pre-pregnancy pants already! It definitely feels good to not have to wear pregnancy clothes.

Father's Day and Blair's baby blessing

Happy Father's Day Nathan! You are such a wonderful father and husband. We are so lucky to have you in our lives. We love you! I am so grateful that Nathan is a worthy priesthood holder. Nathan had the opportunity to bless his baby girl on Father's Day in sacrament meeting. We were lucky enough to have Blair blessed while my mom was still in town. We found out last minute (Saturday afternoon) that we were going to be able to do it. Thanks to my sister in law, Mykle, Blair was absolutely beautiful. Thank you for making Blair's blessing dress. It turned out amazing! It is absolutely gorgeous. Just a few pictures of our adorable angel all dressed up in her beautiful blessing dress.

Grandma's visit

The first two weeks of Blair joining our family, I have been really spoiled. Nathan took the whole first week off to help me and then my wonderful mommy came in to help the second week. I know most people say that you should take it easy when you have a baby but I have been feeling great and haven't been able to keep myself from going out and doing things. I can honestly say I feel so much better now that I'm not pregnant. I have way more energy. I know this is mainly because Blair is such a good sleeper but with help I can also take a nap anytime I want. I guess we will see what this week has in store for us now that I'm on my own. Here is what we have been up to this last week while grandma was in town visiting.
